Cookie policy

This website sets no cookies at all: no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no fingerprinting or similar technology to identify you across visits. It does store two small items in your browser’s local storage, listed below, and one of them is only stored if you accept the cookie notice.

UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003) treats local storage the same way as cookies: anything stored on your device that is not strictly necessary needs your consent, and refusing must be as easy as accepting. That is why the notice has a Reject button next to Accept, and why you can change your answer on this page at any time.

Your choice

What we store in your browser

• splitone_cookie_consent (local storage). Records whether you chose Accept or Reject in the cookie notice, so we do not ask again on every page. Strictly necessary to honour your choice, so it does not itself need consent. Kept until you clear your browser data or change your choice here.
• splitone_attribution_captured (local storage). Written only after you choose Accept and only if you arrived from a link carrying campaign parameters. It holds a single flag meaning “already counted”, so that the same visit is not counted twice. Category: measurement. Requires consent. Kept until you clear your browser data.

Nothing else is stored, and nothing on this website reads storage set by other sites.

What Accept switches on

Campaign attribution. If you arrived from a link with utm_source, utm_medium or utm_campaign parameters, your browser sends our server those values and the type of page you landed on, once. The event carries no identifier for you or your device, so it tells us which campaign brought visitors, never which person came from which campaign. If you choose Reject, or never answer, nothing is sent and nothing is stored.

What runs regardless of your choice

• When a page is viewed, our own server records that a page of that type was viewed (for example, a track page or a Tip). This happens on our server, after the page has been sent to you, and stores nothing on your device.
• When you click certain links (for example, a download link), your browser sends our server the type of page and content the click was on. Nothing is stored on your device and no identifier is included.
• When you open one of our advert links (an address beginning split1app.com/go/), our server records the time, the type of device and a two-letter country code before sending you on to the app store or the download page. No identifier for you is recorded and nothing is stored on your device. See the privacy policy for details.
• Our hosting provider keeps a technical server log of page requests, which is normal for any website and does not involve storing anything on your device.
• Cover images on Tips are loaded from our media provider’s content delivery network, the way any image is loaded. That request does not set a cookie.

These do not need consent because they store nothing on, and read nothing from, your device. Every visitor’s events look identical to us. What the server log and the analytics events contain, where they go and how long they are kept is described in our privacy policy.

What we do not do

• We do not track you across pages or across websites.
• We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and no analytics script runs in your browser.
• We do not embed third-party widgets, social buttons or fonts that would set cookies of their own.
• We do not link anything on this website to a SplitOne account.

If this changes

If we ever add anything else that stores or reads information on your device, we will list it here first, with its name, purpose, duration and category, and it will not run until you have accepted. Consent will stay as easy to refuse or withdraw as it is to give.

The SplitOne app

The mobile app does not use cookies. It keeps a small number of items in your device’s secure storage: your sign-in tokens, a random analytics identifier, and a few preferences such as the track you last chose. These are described in the app section of our privacy policy.
