App terms of use
Version 2.0 · effective 2 September 2026
These terms apply to your use of the SplitOne mobile app (the “App”). You accept them when you create a SplitOne account: pressing the button that creates your account is your agreement to these terms, and we record the date and the version you accepted. If you do not accept them, do not create an account or use the App.
Separate terms of use apply to the website at split1app.com. How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.
1. Who we are
The App is operated by SplitOne. You can contact us at splitone@split1app.com. A person reads every message.
2. The App is free
The App is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no paid feature. Nothing in the App can be bought, and nothing about a result, a ranking or a leaderboard position can be bought. Your agreement with us lasts until you delete your account or we end it under section 14.
3. Who can use the App
You must be 16 or over to create a SplitOne account. When you create an account you must give your date of birth. We use it only to check that you are 16 or over and, if you are 16 or 17, to give your account higher-privacy defaults; we never show it to other drivers. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete its data.
If you are 16 or 17, your account starts with a private profile, no leaderboard listing and no suggested imported results. You can change each of these settings yourself.
4. Your account
- You can create an account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google or Apple. Either way you must give a username, an email address and your date of birth. If you register with an email address we send you a confirmation email; with Google or Apple we use the email address the provider confirms to us.
- Keep your password, or the Google or Apple account you sign in with, secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information and keep your email address current.
- Do not impersonate another person, team or venue.
- Do not use another person’s account, and do not sell, transfer or share your own.
- You can export a copy of your data, and you can delete your account, at any time from Profile → Your data in the App, or without the App by following the steps at split1app.com/help/delete-account. Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period during which you can sign in and cancel it. After that it is permanent. What we keep after deletion, and why, is set out in our privacy policy.
5. What SplitOne is, and is not
SplitOne helps kart drivers record sessions and lap times, compare their own performance on a specific track and layout, review their own onboard video, and share karting knowledge with other drivers. It is a performance tool and a community.
SplitOne is not a coaching service, not a timing authority and not a safety instruction. Nothing in the App, including editorial guides and content posted by other drivers, is a substitute for the rules, briefing and instructions given to you by the venue you drive at. There are no coaches on SplitOne. If you tell us through the App that you are a coach and are interested in a future coaching feature, we only keep your email address so that we can contact you if we build one; we have made no commitment to build it.
Karting carries risk. You are responsible for driving within your ability and within the rules of the venue. Never interact with the App while driving. Always follow the venue’s own safety briefing.
6. Lap times and results
You can add a lap time by typing it, by photographing a printed result slip, or by forwarding a venue result email to SplitOne. How a time reached SplitOne is recorded with it and shown to you and to other drivers.
- Your original time is never silently rewritten. The value first recorded for a lap is preserved and cannot be changed by anyone, including us. If you correct a time, the correction is stored as a new version alongside the original value, with the reason you give, and every version stays on record.
- What you can correct. You can correct a time you typed by hand, from your own session, within the window shown in the App (currently 48 hours) and only if no evidence is attached to it. Times read from a result slip or a venue email cannot be edited; you can delete the entry instead. We do not edit times for you.
- Scanned and forwarded results are read by software and confirmed by you. When you photograph a result slip or forward a venue result email, the numbers are extracted automatically and shown to you for checking. Nothing is saved until you confirm it. We do not guarantee that automatic reading is accurate; you are responsible for checking it before you confirm.
- SplitOne does not certify times. We record and show where a time came from. We do not check times against the venue, and no result on SplitOne is an official or venue-verified result. We may hide any result from public surfaces, with a recorded reason, if we believe it is wrong, fabricated or reported.
- Ranking and comparison are decided by SplitOne. A time is compared only with times recorded on the same track, layout and kart class as confirmed by us; a session whose track setup we have not confirmed stays in your history and is not ranked. Ranking uses the current corrected value of a time. Which times are shown on a leaderboard, and how, follows the criteria we publish in the App, which we may change. Nothing about ranking or comparison can be bought.
- Your evidence stays private. Photographs of result slips and forwarded result emails are kept as private evidence for your own results and are never published.
- You can choose in Privacy settings not to appear on leaderboards and not to show results on your profile.
- Fabricating or falsifying a result, or submitting evidence that is not yours, is a breach of these terms and can lead to removal of your results and suspension of your account.
7. Imported results
When a result slip or venue email lists other drivers, or when we import historical results from a venue, those other lines are stored as imported results. An imported result is a row matched to a nickname or kart number as printed by the venue. It is not a SplitOne account, it is not presented as official or provider-verified, and the match to a nickname can be wrong.
- If an imported result is yours, you can claim it in the App, and you can release a claim you made. Claiming attaches the row to your account and does not change the time. Once you have claimed a nickname at a venue, later imported results at that venue under the same nickname may be attached to your account automatically; you can release those too. Claiming is your own declaration, not a check by us: if two accounts claim the same result, or someone disputes your claim, a person at SplitOne decides which claim stands, and we may reverse a claim.
- If you are shown suggested imported results, that is because you turned the suggestion setting on. It is off by default.
- Rows carrying a configured minor marker, such as “MU16”, are hidden from every public surface and cannot be claimed.
- Anyone, with or without an account, can ask us to correct or remove an imported result at split1app.com/help/remove-a-result. A person checks the row against its source and decides. If we remove a row, we suppress it so that a later import cannot bring it back.
8. Onboard video
- You can upload onboard video of your own laps to review them and to compare two laps side by side. Single-video review is free. Side-by-side comparison is free during early access; if that changes, we will tell you in the App before it does, and these terms will be updated.
- Uploads are limited per account per calendar month and per video length. The current limits are shown in the App before you upload, and we may change them.
- When you upload a video you choose whether it is public or private; the upload screen offers public as the pre-selected option, and you can change a video between public and private at any time. A public video appears on the track page, on your profile and in Discover, and other drivers can compare their own lap with it. A private video is visible only to you. Your analysis of a video, such as markers and sync points, is always private.
- The original video file you upload is kept unchanged as source material; we only create processed copies for playback. You can delete a video at any time, which removes it and its copies.
9. Content you post
The App lets you post content that other people can see (“Your Content”): community posts, including questions, tips, discussions and session results, and up to four photos on a post; replies to posts; votes; your public profile, including your username, display name and avatar; and videos you make public.
- You own Your Content. You grant SplitOne a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and show Your Content in the App and in our own promotion of the App, for as long as Your Content remains on the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep under section 4 and our privacy policy.
- You are responsible for Your Content. Only post content you created or have the right to share. For photos and videos, that includes the rights of anyone identifiable in them. You must not post anything that is defamatory, that infringes anyone’s rights, or that breaks section 10.
- Editing and deleting. You can edit or delete your own posts and videos, and delete your own replies, at any time. Replies cannot be edited after posting. Where other people have replied to your reply, deleting it removes your words but leaves a note that a reply was deleted, so that their replies are not orphaned.
- Editorial content is ours. Guides published by SplitOne in the App and on the website are written by us and are separate from Your Content. A tip you post in the community is never turned into an editorial guide without your agreement.
10. Community rules — zero tolerance
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on SplitOne. You must not post, upload or share content that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or degrades any person;
- is hateful or discriminatory towards any person or group;
- is pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexualises any person;
- depicts or encourages violence, self-harm, or illegal activity;
- exploits or endangers children in any way;
- discloses someone else’s personal information without their consent;
- is spam, a scam, deceptive advertising or a fraudulent scheme;
- is defamatory, or infringes anyone’s intellectual property or other rights;
- impersonates a person, team, venue or SplitOne itself;
- contains malicious code or attempts to interfere with the service.
You must also not:
- fabricate, falsify or misrepresent lap times, results or evidence;
- access the service by any automated means, probe or attack it, or attempt to bypass its security or moderation.
The App also checks text you post against a list of blocked terms and will ask you to edit text that contains one before it is published.
11. Reporting, blocking and moderation
- Report. Every driver profile, post, reply and public video in the App has a Report option. You can report content as spam, harassment, inappropriate content, impersonation, or for another reason you describe. You can also report a driver you have blocked.
- Block. You can block any driver from their profile. Blocking is applied on our servers: it removes that driver’s content, profile and interactions from your experience across the App, removes yours from theirs, ends any follow between you, and stops mentions and notifications between you. You can unblock a driver from Profile → Blocked drivers; unblocking does not restore the follows that were removed.
- Our response. A person reviews every report. We will act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours, by removing content that breaks these rules and, where the behaviour warrants it, suspending the account responsible. Every moderation decision is recorded with its reason.
- What we may do. We may hide or remove any content, and suspend any account, that breaches these terms or the law, with or without prior notice. The App does not currently notify you when your content is hidden; if something you posted is no longer visible, you can ask us why at the address below.
- If you think we got it wrong. There is no in-app appeal. You can ask us to review a decision to hide your content or suspend your account by emailing splitone@split1app.com. A person will look at it again and reply.
- Complaints about content that concerns you. If you believe content in the App is illegal, defamatory of you, or infringes your rights, report it in the App or email us with a link to the content and an explanation. We will review it and may remove the content, contact the person who posted it, or both. Where the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013 apply, we will follow the process they set out.
12. What other people can see
SplitOne is built around comparable results. Driver profiles are public by default and can appear in search; if you make your profile private, other drivers must send you a follow request and be accepted before they can see your activity. Lap times that qualify for a leaderboard, posts you publish, replies, and videos you make public are visible to other users. Your Privacy settings control whether you appear on leaderboards, whether your results show on your profile, and whether imported results are suggested to you. Evidence photos, forwarded result emails, private videos, session notes and saved posts are always private. The details are in our privacy policy.
13. Our content and licence to you
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms. We own or licence all intellectual property rights in the App and in the material we publish in it, including the SplitOne name and logo and our editorial guides. Track information is published for discovery and context and does not imply any endorsement by the venue.
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the standard terms of that store also apply to your download. Where those terms conflict with these, these terms govern your relationship with SplitOne.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we withdraw the service. Where the breach involves the zero tolerance rules in section 10, we may do so immediately and without notice. A suspended account cannot sign in, and its profile and content are removed from every public surface. Suspension lasts until we lift it. You can stop using the App, and delete your account, at any time.
15. Availability and changes to the service
We take care over the service but do not guarantee that the App will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that any piece of content, including track data, imported results, editorial guides and content posted by other drivers, is accurate, complete or up to date. We may change, suspend or withdraw features of the App without notice.
16. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.
If the App damages a device or other digital content belonging to you, and we caused the damage by failing to use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or compensate you, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides.
Subject to the two paragraphs above, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, from content posted by other users, or from reliance on any content in the App, including lap times, results, rankings and guidance. The App is provided free of charge for personal use, and we are not liable to you for any business loss, including loss of profit, revenue, business or data. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the App before it takes effect. The version number and date at the top of this page show when they were last changed. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account.
18. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at the address below so that we can try to resolve it.
